• Running Club is organized around the activity of running, but the focus of the club is to promote the well being of the child.  The club promotes fitness and encourages good sportsmanship and a positive mental attitude.  We teach basic techniques, skills, and strategies of running.  We also discuss values related to the sport.  Winning and losing, cooperation and consideration will be constantly discussed.  This is an excellent opportunity for your child to learn about himself or herself.

Students involved in Running Club run around the gym or surrounding fields.  We also incorporate some exercises and relays.  This keeps the running from being monotonous and boring.  Time will be spent on safety procedures, the importance of jogging with a friend, and the dangers of strangers.  These are constantly taught and reviewed. Running club will end with our Annual Cohutta Fun Run which is a one-mile course around the school where all participants receive a medal.

Running Club begins in January.  Kindergarten thru second grade meets Tuesday mornings from 7:10-7:40.  Third thru fifth grade meet Thursdays from 7:10-7:40.  We pick them up from the cafeteria.

Check out our 2016 Cohutta Fun Run participants! We're expecting even more in 2017!
