Testing-Out Opportunity
-
What does it mean to "test-out" of an End-of-Course (EOC)?
A student may demonstrate subject area competency by testing out of any course that has an associated Georgia Milestones End-of-Course (EOC) assessment. This option is available before the student takes the course. This means that a student can take the EOC prior to taking the course and if the student reaches the performance level of "Distinguished" then he or she can earn creditfor the course. Students have only one opportunity per course to test-out. At this time, a student may earn no more than three credits by testing out.
What are the student requirements for testing-out of an EOC course?
- Not currently or previously enrolled int the course.
- Have earned a grade of B or better in a content area course that is the same content area of the course for which the student is attempting the Georgia Milestones EOC.
- Received a teacher recommendation from a teacher in the same content area.
- Received parent/guardian permission.
The opportunity for students to test-out is offered during a specified EOC mid-month window and during the Summer Main EOC Administration. For more information, please refer to our Earning Units of High School Course Credit by Testing-Out application.
