  • District Reopening Information

    As there continues to be questions and concerns related to the reopening of schools, we want to assure families our first priority is the safety and health of all students and staff.   • Changes to Online Learning

    With the majority of Whitfield County students returning for in-person instruction by October 29, our teachers will no longer be able to provide virtual instruction for students learning from home. Beginning November 2, WCS virtual students will begin learning through online programs outsourced by the district. For more information, please click the link above.

  • High School Schedule Changes

    Due to the reduced number of local COVID-19 cases, the high schools of Whitfield County will continue steps to safely bring our high school students back to a normal schedule.   • Waiver for the Expansion of the Middle School Assessment Exception

    The Georgia Department of Education is seeking comment on a waiver request for the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act, which will be submitted to the US Department of Education. More information and a survey with an opportunity for comments is available at the link above until November 29.

  • Dual Enrollment Parent Information

    Dual Enrollment provides opportunities for high school students to take free college courses and earn credit at both the high school and post-secondary institution. This year, instead of holding in-person Dual Enrollment parent information meetings, an informational video is available for all families interested in Dual Enrollment.   • Statewide Passing Score Survey

    The Georgia Department of Education is asking for input on what percentage of a student's final grade should the End-of-Course (EOC) Test count. Currently the EOC test is worth 20% of a student's final grade. Due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, new percentage recommendations have been made for the 2020-21 school year. The survey closes November 16.

  • Two WCS Seniors Named 2021 Commended Students

    Two Whitfield County seniors have been named Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program, out of approximately 34,000 students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.
