End User Devices | At Whitfield County Schools, we envision a valued and dynamic school district that prepares students for success in a global community. Our IT staff strive to support this by supporting a robust network and maintaining over 18,000 end user devices ranging from Chromebooks, Windows laptops and desktops, Mac desktops and iPads.
With these devices, students and staff have the opportunity to access the greatest learning tool (other than our teachers) — the internet — where they can safely and securely engage in educational activities.
Security | Our mission is to “maximize student learning by providing challenging and engaging educational experiences in a safe and supportive environment” and IT plays a huge role in accomplishing this. There are two areas we engage in and support:
-
Physical Security
-
We have installed in many buildings 2-way camera and microphone systems used to grant access into the school buildings.
-
We currently support over 900 security cameras placed at key locations around all schools and district offices.
-
Cyber Security
-
Regular cyber security-related topics are shared with staff to better inform them
-
Phishing campaigns
-
Yearly Cyber training for all staff members
-
Common Sense Media training for students
