The instruction at Westside Middle school is a direct reflection of the mandated curriculum disseminated from the State Department of Education. Where circumstances permit, we may take students deeper into the subject matter, or in certain instances we may create a curriculum for specific courses unique to our school, e.g. Leadership Academy. Our teachers work collaboratively to develop activities, lessons, projects, and assignments that encourage students to think critically and thoughfully about the subject matter being taught. Assessments directly corelate to the material taught and are given as quizzes, classroom tests, and county benchmarks. Other assessments include the Milestones (State Assessment), the MAP (County Assessment), and the SRI (School Assessment). If you ever have any questions about the instruction or assessments in which your child is involved, we encourage you to call and talk with your child's teacher. 706.673.2611
