WCS recognizes its 2023 STAR Students and Teachers





The STAR Students and Teachers are, from left, Jayden Richmond and teacher Ben Oliver, Cruz Guo and teacher Dr. Lucinda Bolt, Jazmine Ayabar and teacher Jose Sanchez, Nathan Torbett and teacher Sean Torbett, and Rylei Brown and teacher Wendy Gowin. 



On Monday, February 13, 2023, the Kiwanis Club of Dalton recognized the 2023 STAR Students and Teachers from Christian Heritage, Dalton Public Schools and Whitfield County Schools.

To qualify for the Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR), high school seniors must have the highest score on the SAT and be in the top 10 percent of their class. Once named, students then select a teacher to share in this recognition.

The STAR Students and Teachers from Whitfield County Schools are:

from Coahulla Creek High School, STAR Student Cruz Guo and STAR Teacher Dr. Lucinda Bolt

from Northwest High School, a tie between STAR Students Rylei Brown and Nathan Torbett and their respective STAR Teachers Wendy Gowin and Sean Torbett

from Southeast High School, a tie between STAR Students Jazmine Ayabar and their respective STAR Teachers Jose Sanchez and Ben Oliver

Cruz Guo from Coahulla Creek High School was named the overall System Winner and will represent the district in the region competition.
