Whitfield County Schools CLOSED for the Remainder of the School Year

Due to the increasing concern of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) around the state, all Whitfield County schools will be closed Monday, March 16 through the remainder of the school year. ***Beginning the week of April 6, the school district will begin “Support our Families” Fridays.  Teachers will provide instruction for students Monday through Thursday, and Fridays will be for make-up work, parent contacts, virtual meetings, professional learning, etc.

MEALS FOR STUDENTS

We realize that there are many families who depend on the school system to help provide meals for their children. Beginning Tuesday, March 17, Whitfield County Schools will be providing meals at no cost to all children 18 and younger.

The week of April 6, the Whitfield County School Nutrition Department will serve meals Monday through Thursday only. Friday, April 10 is a previously scheduled school holiday, therefore no meals will be served that day. Students and parents will have the opportunity to pick up multiple meals on Thursday, April 9 to ensure that student needs are met for Friday.

Beginning Monday, April 13, meals will only be served on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On these days we will serve multiple meals at one time. We hope that by serving less days we will help with the continued effort of social distancing while still meeting the needs of our students during this difficult time.

When students pick up a lunch, they may also take home a breakfast meal for the next day. If you have questions, please call the School Nutrition Department at (706) 876-7264 or (706) 876-7266.
