Coahulla Creek, Southeast & Northwest high schools named 2021 AP Honor Schools
State School Superintendent Richard Woods announced the 2021 Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools, naming Coahulla Creek, Northwest and Southeast high schools AP Honor Schools in the following categories:
Southeast High School named an AP Access and Support School
Schools with at least 30 percent of AP exams taken by students who identified themselves as African-American and/or Hispanic and 30 percent of all AP exams earning scores of 3 or higher.
Coahulla Creek, Northwest and Southeast high schools named AP STEM Schools
Schools with a minimum of five students testing in at least four AP STEM courses (AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles).
Coahulla Creek High School named AP STEM Achievement School
AP STEM schools (see above definition) with at least 50 percent of all AP STEM exams earning scores of 3 or higher.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to this year's AP Honor Schools," Superintendent Woods said. “I commend them for their hard work to build strong Advanced Placement programs and, as a result, provide high-quality opportunities for Georgia students."
AP exams are administered by College Board, which also administers the SAT. AP courses are one of several ways Georgia students can access college-level learning at the high-school level. Students who receive a three, four or five on an AP exam may receive college credit. The 2021 AP Honor Schools are named in eight categories, based on the results of 2020 AP courses and exams.
