  • Elementary and Middle School Gifted Screening

    Whitfield County Schools participates in a gifted screening process each year. The consideration window and nomination for the testing process for elementary and middle schools will begin in January. School personnel and parents may nominate their child for this consideration. Testing will be conducted in February. Please contact your child's school if you have any questions.

  • Georgia Student Health Survey 2.0

    The Georgia Student Health Survey 2.0 provides Georgia public schools with a measurement system to satisfy all requirements under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The survey is also used to guide school prevention and intervention programs and for grant funding. The GSHS 2.0 for middle and high school students covers topics such as school climate and safety, graduation, school dropouts, alcohol and drug use, bullying and harassment, suicide, nutrition, and sedentary behaviors. The GSHS 2.0 for elementary students includes school safety and school climate questions.

  • WCS receives grant to fund Beyond the Classroom initiative

    Whitfield County Schools is one of four recipients in Georgia to receive an Innovative Fund grant from the Governor's Office of Student Achievement. The grant, totaling over 550 thousand dollars, will fund Beyond the Classroom, a program that will serve over 1,500 children and parents throughout the year in Learning Academies, Power Lunches, Summer Literacy Camps, and other literacy events through partnerships with Dalton State College, the Northwest Georgia Healthcare Partnership, and the Northwest Georgia Regional Library.

  • Whitfield County Schools Financial Review

    As of November 1, the Department of Education has published its new financial data reporting tool as required by HB 139. HB 139 required the aggregation and publication of a variety of financial information for all school districts, such as revenue and expenditure data, capital construction costs, recent audits, and similar reports. The reporting system can be found at the link above.
